I don't usually do blogs--but in this case, just want to share with you all that I loved Elvis, am a truly devoted fan (as in fanatic!), and still get goosebumps when I hear his music, and feel a big, sad throb in my heart when I think how exploited he was-and how lonely he must have been so many times, too much to drink, too many pills, not enought real support around him to keep him grounded in joy and happiness. I'd like to share with you that I have known many people who got hurt from booze and pills, overdosed, or needed counseling or support of some kind. Not to turm this into an AA meeting, but I think evryone knows someone who has a drinking problem, or a prescription addiction. I have counselled a lot of people, saved a few lives, and helped a few people turn their lives around. And I have used Elvis as an example of a spirit so animated, so alive, so vital, and feel so strongly that he was used, by the music industry, and that is so wrong. I see very talented youngsters coming up, and can only wish them well, and hope they find success without falling into those lousy life-killer habits. On a happier note, I'd like to just say hello-I am 60 years young, full of fun, a sometime guitar picker, but mostly I love to play the drums, both my drum set (11 drums and 12 cybals), and hand drums-djembes, congas, shekeres, anything that makes a sound (pots and pans, skillets, plastic pvc pipe...you name it, I've played it!) I'm a fubsy gal with a lot of life force, five planets in Leo, and love peopel. So, like, I know this is a site for the memory of Elvis, but in that vein, maybe this blog is in his spirit and for everyone who loves music, rhythm, blues, laughter, and life's endless fun. Hello-thanks for starting this site-I'll try to add some more photos soon. I am still getting used to the digital camera and so forth. Love to hear from YOU!
